Updated 9/25/23
Effective immediately, the Christiana Borough is implementing a mandatory restriction on nonessential water use until further notice. We had hoped voluntary conservation and predicted rainfall would have provided some restoration of water supply, however, this is not the case. As of now the Boil Water Notice has NOT been lifted. Under the mandatory restriction, the following uses are prohibited:
- The use of any water for watering of grass, athletic fields, and irrigation of outdoor gardens, landscaped area, trees, shrubs, and other outdoor plants.
- the use of any water for washing paved surfaces, for ornamental purposes, including fountains, artificial waterfalls and reflecting pools.
- the use of any water for washing or cleaning of mobile equipment, like vehicles.
- the use of water to fill and top off swimming pools.
- the use of water from a fire hydrant, including sprinkler caps, for any purpose, except for firefighting or testing apparatus with prior notice.
This is not a situation any of us planned or want to be in but mother nature is not cooperating, and we must ensure that our customers have water when they need it. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this difficult time.
